This week has been quite a challenge. We started last Wednesday with me arrive to my meeting and learning the woman who had all the information for my new job in her head, was not coming because she was at the hospital having an emergency c-section. Normally I would say. no prob. I can get the info later...except I have a meeting tomorrow with about 100 students and she had all the manuals, spreadsheets, Powerpoint presentations, etc that are needed.
Then Eric returned Thursday, making us all rejoyce until he fell down the stairs......
Then on Saturday morning I checked my voice mail and learned a good friends unborn baby has fluid on his lungs.
Yesterday my colleague emails me the documents and informs me that food was never ordered. She planned to go to Costco...wanna guess who is going tomorrow before the meeting? I planned to go in and work on the documents today (needed data that is only located on the K drive)when Eric reminded me that Best Buy was coming to fix his new TV.
With all this whirling in my head, I was unable to fall asleep last night. Finally fell asleep at about 2:30am which meant I overslept this morning. I jump up and rush the girls to get ready so I can drive Bella to school. Then I slip and fall down the same steps as Eric. Luckily I was not holding a child like he was, but manage to wrench my neck and shoulder as I grabbed the railing trying to stop my decline.
Then Best Buy calls and tells me they will be at my house between 11 and 1pm. (A decent size window, but smack in the middle of the day) Thank goodness for my wonderful father. He came over and took Alyssa back to his house so that once the Best Buy guy replaced the motor in the tv (never knew there was a motor in there) I could take off for JHU.
I arrive, only to learn my passwords don't work and there is NO ONE on campus can help me. Oh did I mention I had already spent the morning trying to get my email set up, but according to HR I still don't exist?
After 45 minutes, I finally get into the slowest machine I have used in ages, and start working, only to learn I have way more than the hour or so of work I thought I had to do. I finish what I can, pick Bella up, take her to my Dad and head back to the office until almost 8pm.
The only good thing today, which was really good, was I learned that the University of Maryland System at Shady Grove accepted my proposal for some contract work (first proposal I ever had to write...Thanks Eric and my big bro)It means that starting in Feb I will be working about 30-35 hours a week. I am very excited.
Keep your fingers crossed that my meeting goes well tomorrow and life proceeds happily, even if peaceful is not possible.
